Damien Varley

Damien is Chief Operating Officer and a founding partner of Haven Green.

Damien has over 10 years experience in private markets particularly focused on Private Equity and Real Estate.

His expertise spans investment strategy, deal structuring, and operational oversight, with a strong emphasis on real estate, media, and consumer products. Before establishing Haven Green, Damien worked at Morgan Stanley Investment Management, where he played a pivotal role in the operational infrastructure build-out and distribution support for the firm’s transition of the MiFID business to Ireland in response to Brexit. His work ensured a seamless regulatory transition while enhancing operational efficiencies, Central Bank reporting and governance frameworks.

He holds a Biomedical degree from the University of Limerick and an MBA from Heriot-Watt Business School at the University of Edinburgh. In addition, he has specialised qualifications in Aviation Finance & Leasing as well as certificates in Alternative Investments from Harvard Business School, Private Markets from Saïd Business School at the University of Oxford, and the Designated Persons in a Fund Management Company from Institute of Bankers and University College Dublin. Damien is a member of the Institute of Bankers. He is currently enrolled in the CAIA Level I Program.

Prior to his finance career Damien was an professional rugby player representing Munster and Ireland.
